Transactional emails are automated messages that are triggered by specific user actions or behaviors within a software product or service. Unlike marketing emails, which are designed to promote a product or service, transactional emails are focused on providing value and facilitating user interactions with the product. As an example for B2B SaaS, consider a cloud-based accounting software that sends transactional emails to users based on their actions within the software. If a user submits an invoice for payment, the software may automatically send a confirmation email to the user, indicating that the invoice has been received and is being processed. The email may also include details about the payment process, such as when the payment will be processed and how the user can track the status of the payment. Other examples of transactional emails in B2B SaaS may include welcome messages, password reset requests, or notifications of system updates or maintenance. By providing timely and relevant information to users, transactional emails can help to improve the user experience, build trust and loyalty, and reduce the workload on customer support teams.
